Orange You Glad It's a Party!

I just love parties!  Since all three of my boys' birthdays are within 24 days of each other, and since I am 6 months pregnant (with my 4th boy, yippee!), I planned ONE family party for all of them.  Aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and great-grandparents all came to the house
to wish the boys a happy birthday.

With three boys, I have pretty much done every boy party theme that there is.  The two older boys were also having friend parties (Bowling and Avengers themes).  So, this theme was all about my 2 year old.  This kid loves orange!  I don't know why or how, but since he was itty bitty, if there was an orange toy, cup, bowl, etc, he would always choose and seek it out over all other options.  So, a theme was born.  All decorations and food were orange!

These orange cookies were inspired by Sweetopia.  She has a great tutorial on how to create them.
I even added a little orange extract into the cookie dough, yum!

I topped these vanilla cupcakes with orange icing, sanding sugar and a slice of orange candy.

I covered my wall art with a poster board.  These photographs of the boys were taken by
my dear friend and talented photographer, Resa, of Resa Design Photography.

The orange cookies went home with the guests as party favors.  These candy jars with the boys' ages are so fun filled with orange gumballs, orange slices and sunkist orange jelly bellies.

Here is the dinner table of orangeness!
For all my family members asking for recipes, the links are below.

Mango Salsa with Tortilla Chips
Cheez-Its
Cantaloupe Balls
Clementines
Baby Carrots and Orange Pepper Slices with Roasted Red Pepper Hummus
Pumpkin Mini-Muffins
Cheese Cube Skewers
Sweet Potato Fries
Macaroni and Cheese
Vanilla Cupcakes with Orange Icing
Sunkist Orange Soda
Orange Jello topped with Whipped Cream and Orange Slice Candy
Orange Sherbet and Vanilla Ice Cream

(Yes, I know that vanilla ice cream is not orange, but it was heavenly paired with the peach cobbler or the orange soda to create an orange dream float.)

Happy Birthday to all of my sweet, funny, loud, messy boys!

Lavender Bridal Shower

Weddings are my favorite!
These decorated sugar cookies made this bridal shower just that much sweeter.

The darling sashed wedding dress and half wedding cake cookies created
a gorgeous platter for the bridal shower guests to enjoy.

My customer also wanted to send each guest home with a little something sweet.

These save the date cookies are the perfect way to recall a day spent celebrating the special bride.
They are also a fun reminder of the big event to come.

We even packaged up one of the wedding dresses as a place card for the bride at the shower.

Bowling Anyone?!

It is my son's 9th birthday and he wanted to take a few friends bowling to celebrate.
Back at the house, the boys snacked on these bowling ball decorated sugar cookies.

Here is my first attempt at gourmet cupcakes!
I was inspired by these cupcakes from Mini Baker.  I don't really care for fondant,
though, so I made the little bowling pins and balls on top out of
sculptable buttercream frosting, instead.  And boy were they delicious!
Sew Can Do has a great tutorial on how to create shapes out of this amazing frosting.

I also created these bowling pin and ball party favors for each of the guests to take home.

I just love parties, but I was not allowed to go over the top because,
apparently, when you are 9, you are getting too old for all of that stuff.

So here is my attempt at keeping it low key.  Who doesn't love cookies and milk?!

(I am not a professional photographer, so yes, this is a normal suburban dining room.)

I was inspired by these bowling parties from and Dukes and Duchesses and vixenMade.
I covered my wall art with a checkerboard background made from poster board and card stock.
The images in the frames were printed from a google images search.
(I realize that I am missing a black balloon, but my 2 year old wanted to help!)

Happy 9th Birthday to my amazing son, Grant!
